So...what is "goldfill"? - 3/12/2006

"Goldfill" or "Rolled Gold" is an affordable alternative to actual gold. The content of gold in gold plated items is only one micron (one millionth) gold, which often wears off quickly. Goldfill is a much sturdier version, being one 20th of gold over jeweller's brass. The gold is extruded into a tube and filled with the jeweller's brass - to all intents and purposes, goldfilled jewellery should last just as long as gold jewellery, and is a much more inexpensive option.

My new White Mod bracelet shows off the beauty of goldfill, and also some stunning rare Swarovksi crystals!

And what else is happening in Natalia's world? Well, I arrived back from Sydney having held two successful beading classes, and promptly left for Mount Gambier to visit my lovely clients there. I was only back for a week, before I left for Sydney again for the weekend! I was lucky enough to do the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb while I was there, which was an incredible experience! As we were climbing down the bridge, we lingered a while and watched the sun set over the Harbour - it was a very special memory I will treasure for years to come.

I have a new tutorial in the Beads Etc magazine, which is an Australian publication. The previous issue, a necklace I made was offered up as a prize for voting in the Art Challenge. I am working on getting a picture for this in the news section so you can have a look!

Hope all your preparations for an enjoyable and safe Christmas are well under way, and expect an update soon.

Until next time,

Natalia
